Why are you guys based in Utah?
It’s a question we get asked a lot around here and our reply is simply that it’s where our three co-founders live. But, for those of you who aren’t satisfied with that answer, here are seven more reasons why we’re located in Lindon, Utah.
1. it’s A LITTLE BIT OF COUNTRY
The city of Lindon is nestled between Mt. Timpanogos and Utah Lake. While its motto is “A Little Bit of Country,” it’s still within a reasonable distance from Provo and Salt Lake City. Horse pastures and cornfields line some of the main roads and the population of 10,000 residents continues to steadily increase. With office and warehouse space to research, develop, and grow and land just up the street in Pleasant Grove to build our corporate offices, the co-founders felt it was a good place to put down its roots.
Utah has four seasons and scenery that ranges from desert landscapes to pine tree forests. Many of our employees love to get outdoors to hike, four-wheel, camp, boat, ski, or even snowmobile. We think it’s pretty great to live 30 minutes from the canyon. Utah really is a #beUtahful place to live.
3. happy valley
Utah County is nicknamed “Happy Valley” for the many large, religious families in the area. And we think that’s great… because bigger families equal more ticket sales, right?
As the beehive state, Utah prides itself in it’s innovative and industrious worker bees. For the third year, Utah was named the best place to do business. Utah County has also been termed “Silicon Slopes” because of the massive amount of tech companies and professionals moving into the area. It’s a great location to find and recruit local talent.
5. Utahns like to have good clean fun
There are three large universities in the valley that have thousands of college students looking for fun date ideas. On the weekends, movie theaters, escape rooms, and outdoor venues are packed with families and students. We’re excited to add another activity to the mix and think THE VOID will go over very well.
6. it’s the nerdiest state in America
According to a 2014 study by Easterly, Utah is the number one “nerd paradise” in the country. Not only do most Utahns love the Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek franchises, but Salt Lake’s Comic Con has also made a name for itself. In 2015 a record-breaking 120,000 people attended the con. With VOID experiences ranging everywhere from space adventures to puzzle games, we think Utah’s nerds and geeks will get a kick out of what we have in store for them.
7. because we like it and it doesn’t matter
When James Jensen, co-founder of THE VOID was asked why we were located in Lindon, Utah, he replied, “If VR is going to be so big, why does it matter where it happens?” And we couldn’t agree more. Our co-founders live here with their families, so isn’t that reason enough to build THE VOID here?
